Decumulation strategy
Borrow against the taxable brokerage (an SBLOC) instead of selling it —
loan draws are untaxed, the portfolio stays invested, heirs inherit with
stepped-up basis and the estate repays the loan. RMDs still apply, the
loan compounds, and a market drop past your max LTV forces a taxed sale.

How this calculator works
Most retirement calculators compress your life into one average-return
number. This one is a sandbox: it projects your balances year by year
under bear, base and bull market scenarios side by
side, because the order and spread of returns — not the average —
is what actually decides whether a plan survives.
Per-account modeling: 401(k), Roth, taxable and
HSA balances and contributions are tracked separately, because
they're taxed differently and drain in different orders.
Stock-bond glidepath: your allocation de-risks
gradually toward your retirement date, and you control both ends
of the glide.
The parts most calculators skip: required minimum
distributions, a healthcare cost ramp that outpaces general
inflation, and Social Security starting at your chosen age.
Year-by-year drilldown: every projected year is
inspectable in a table — no black box.
Common questions
Is it really free?
Yes. The full calculator runs anonymously — no account, no email.
Signing in (free) saves your scenarios across devices. Pro auto-fills
your live account balances.
Where do my starting balances come from?
Type them in, or — if you track your money in the same app's
net worth dashboard — Pro users have their real
per-account balances filled in automatically, keeping the projection
honest.
Does it give financial advice?
No. It's a projection sandbox for your own assumptions —
a way to see the consequences of choices, not a recommendation
engine. Not financial advice.
